Anglican Church Women
The All Saints’ “Anglican Church Women” – ACW – includes ALL women belonging to our Parish.
The ACWprovides an opportunity for the women in the parish to come together tosocialize and work together and to participate in the on-going activities, suchas fund-raising events, to support our Parish as wellas to support many outreach projects both locally and further afield. The main fundraisers are the spring and falltea/coffee, bazaar, raffles and making and selling turkey pies. Some of the organizations supported by theACW are the Parish of All Saints’, the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Corunna FoodBank, Rebound, Hub, Pathways, Huron Church Camp, Monica Place, Diocese of HuronFair Share, Anglican Foundation and World Vision Child. There is often a speaker prior to the businessmeeting (Rebound, travelogues, parishioners sharing special skills, localhistory). There is usually one externalplanned activity such as a bus tour or theatre option during the year.
Structurally, the organized ACW of All Saints’ has two co-chairs, a secretary and a treasurer. The meetings are held the first Thursdayof each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Parish House in Sarnia (except for onemeeting in Corunna) – September to June, and all women of the church areencouraged to attend. The Parish Rectoris an ex officio member of the ACW and we welcome his/her attendance at any orall meetings. The December and Junemeetings, traditionally, are social gatherings. The December meeting is usually held at the Golden Palace Restaurant inCorunna and the June meeting is held at another location. Attendance at the meetings tends to rangefrom 15 to 25 women.
The April meeting has traditionally beenour “Thank Offering Meeting” when we have a special collection to take to theAnnual meeting to support the work of the ACW Diocesan Council. The Diocesan Council (meets monthly inLondon) is made up of representatives from all the deaneries in the Diocese ofHuron and acts as a liaison and mentor between the parishes, deaneries and thediocese. The Diocesan Annual Meeting atthe Cathedral in London affords the opportunity to meet women from across thediocese to share ideas and information.
Our local group is part of the Anglicanwomen of the Lambton Deanery who meet twice a year at host churches throughoutthe Deanery.
Women –please feel free to come and enjoy any meeting with us without any fear ofbeing asked to take on any commitments. The group is friendly, fun-loving and dedicated to supporting the Parishin which we worship and our work is always done with the glory of God inmind.
